Since 1947, Jammu division has been discriminated by the successive state governments and no attention was given for its rapid development like Kashmir, said convener, Shri Amarnath Sangarsh Samiti, Leela Karan Sharma.
Sharma said it is not only state govt even centre government also paid little attention towards Jammu while allotting funds to J&K state. Leela was addressing a press meet organized by an association of hardware and sanitary dealers here this afternoon.
Launching a scathing attack on first prime minister of free India, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, he said, for the present turmoil in the state Nehru is wholly responsible, as he failed to settle Kashmir issue amicably, and also put Kashmiri Pandits in trouble waters, and as a result they were shunted out of Kashmir by the separatists with full support of the militants. Taking case to United Nations was his great blunder and gave birth to more trouble. He said the promise made the Kashmiries for self determination by Nehru is also a cause of present situation, though Pakistan violated all norms and questions of self determination never arise, as Pakistan gifted large chunk of state territory to China.
Referring to the restoration of the forest land to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board, Leela Karan said, agitation will continue till the restoration of the land back to Shrine Board. Coming down heavenly on administration, he said Governor N.N. Vohra is trying his best to sabotage the agitation, who will give befitting reply to those who are trying to derail the path. He also criticized the statements of Congress spokesperson, who he said, are not aware about the real position. He said the present agitation is fight between nationalist and anti- nationalist. He said rising of pro-Pak slogans in valley are welcomed, while those who carry national flag and says 'Bharat Mata ki jai' who treated brutally and are put behind bars.
He said how long it will be tolerated and added people have united against this appeasement policy of the government. He on the occasion welcomed the persons wanted to join Sangarsh Samiti, for the cause, but asked them to leave their party, then only it is possible. A cheque of Rs. 52000 were handed over to Leela Karan by the association and Rs. 20000 by the management of Delhi Building MaterialCorporation for the Samiti.
On the occasion a number of demands were put forth by the association which includes waiving off bank interest and power tariff.
