| Panthers Party opposes separatists plan on derailing poll process | | Harshdev suggests separatists to allow resolution of land row | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Aug 23
Expressing surprise over the way separatists continue to change their stance every now and then thereby delaying restoration of peace and normalcy to the state, the Panthers Party General Secretary, Harsh Dev Singh, today said that the separatists first raised a hue and cry over the diversion of land to the Shrine Board and now they were focusing on opening of Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road for trade, release of prisoners, revocation of Special Powers(Armed Forces) Act and finally for the settlement of the Kashmir issue. He said if the separatists want the route to be thrown open for trade it should take up the matter with Islamabad because Delhi had already sent a proposal to the Pakistan Government suggesting opening of the road for trade. However, Harsh Dev Singh said that if the separatists plan to intensify their struggle for resolving the Kashmir issue they should not hold the Jammuties as hostages because lakhs of people in the Jammu region have been facing problems owing to the 50-day long shutdown. He suggested to the separatists to allow the land row to be resolved and in this connection referred to the proposal his party chief, Bhim Singh, had made to the separatists during his recent meeting with them in Srinagar. He said Prof. Singh had suggested to the separatists that land be allowed to be diverted to the Board after only state subjects were appointed as its members. The Panther Party leader suspected some ulterior plan of the separatists by prolonging their agitation and said that they were aiming at derailing the democratic process by getting the Assembly elections postponed. |
