| PDP leaders asked to keep shut | | ‘Only Mehbooba can comment on issues’ | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Aug 23
In a sign of muzzling internal democracy in the organization, the Peoples Democratic Party today strictly warned all its leaders of stern disciplinary action if they spoke on any policy matter. A party spokesman said that the President Mehbooba Mufti is the only authorities persons to speak on any policy related issue and no other leaders –either in Srinagar, Jammu or Delhi –should speak on any issue. Referring to the Governor’s panel’s dialogue with the members of Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti, the PDP spokesman said that no solution taken in isolation shall be acceptable. “Observations made verbally or communicated in black and white to any forum by any member of the party, in Delhi, Jammu or Srinagar, without taking into confidence the PDP leadership should be construed as purely his/her individual views having no mandate from the party”, said a PDP spokesman. He said necessary disciplinary action would be taken against any member of the party who puts across his views at any forum without taking the PDP leadership into confidence on the issue. Reiterating the party's stand on how to defuse the present crisis, the PDP spokesman quoting the party President said that before arriving at any decision, the Government must take all sections of the Kashmiri society, including the newly constituted Kashmir Coordination Committee into confidence. "As has been decided already the Government must be entrusted with the responsibility of making arrangements for the Amarnath Yatra and the environment and weather concerns, as have been pointed out by the Nitish Sengupta Committee, must be taken into consideration while arriving at any decision in this regard," he said. Welcoming the initiation of dialogue with the Shri Amarnath Sangarsh Samiti (SASS) in Jammu, the spokesman said that PDP is eagerly looking forward towards resolving the crisis amicably in the larger interest of peace and tranquility, but at the same time any decision in this regard should not be taken in isolation. |
