| Jammu agitation against fundaments: Chuni | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Aug 24
Expressing regrets over the centre’s attitude towards the prevailing situation in Jammu, chairman SOS International- an organization of PoK refugees Rajiv Chuni has alleged that centre was never sincere with Jammu and the present anti-India and pro-Pakistan upsurge in Kashmir is the direct outcome of Kashmir centric approach of the successive governments. Addressing the general body meeting of the SOS International, Chuni said that for all the past 60 years the government at the centre and in the state has betrayed us and we have been made a play card by every government and by all the parties. Appreciating the people of Jammu province over the ongoing agitation, Chuni said that people have displayed solidarity for the legitimate cause cutting across religious and political lines and said that those who have been describing it as communal cannot tolerate peace loving nationalistic people in the state. He emphasized that the ongoing agitation is not against any religion but against the fundamentalist forces and some mainstream political parties of the valley who have started a hateful campaign against the members of the minority community in the state. The SOS leader appealed the people to continue with their ‘historic struggle’ by maintaining brotherhood at all costs until its reached to a logical conclusion and issues of discrimination confronting us for the last 60 years are sorted out once for all. Referring to the POK refugees, Chuni said that they were the first victims of Jammu and Kashmir conflict yet ironically their grievances were not addressed till date. He said the successive governments marginalized their issue and all attention was given to those who raised anti-India and pro-Pak slogans by ignoring the patriotic people of Jammu including the refugees. He said that they have put their struggle on hold in view of the ongoing agitation but they will soon take up their movement more vigorously once the land is restored to the Shrine Board. He warned the state and the centre to be prepared for another mass revolt if the issues pertaining to the refugees were not settled as per their wishes. The SOS leader said that in order to further strengthen the ongoing agitation over restoration of land to the SASB, SOS has decided to distribute relief among the people and the needy people from Tuesday. The meeting, among others, was attended by Dr. Gurmeet Singh, Raj Kumar Kohli, Suchwant Singh, J S Mangal, D V Gupta, Sohan Singh, Vijay Sharma and Capt. Bishamber. |
