| Removal of Governor’s not Congress demand | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Aug 24
While welcoming Sangarsh Samati for holding talks with the governor's panel to resolve the land issue, senior congress leader and former health minister Mangat Ram Sharma today ruled out that congress is demanding for the recalling of governor from the state and maintained that those camping at New Delhi for the demand are doing on their own behalf. Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, he appreciated Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangarsh Samati for holding talks with the governor's panel to end the present stalemate arising out of the cancellation of land to SASB. He also ruled out that Jammu and Kashmir congress is demanding removal of the Governor N N Vohra from the state and maintained that those men of congress gone to New Delhi for a task of 'governor's recall' are their individual demand and not of the state congress party. However, he said that the prevailing situation demanding immediate redressal of the core issue and government should take necessary steps to find an amicable solution of the land row that might be acceptable to people of both the regions. He further stated that to respect the sentiments of the people of Jammu, congress party right from the beginning is supporting Sangarsh Samati for its genuine demand of restoration of land to the shrine board. The senior leader of congress also condemned incidents of violence in Poonch and appealed people to maintain peace and communal harmony in the prevailing situation. |
