Congress leaders hope early breakthrough

Reaffirming that the Central government and the Congress high command were seized of the prevailing situation in Jammu, in the wake of ongoing agitation over restoration of land to Amarnath Shrine Board, the former minister and veteran Congress leader Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma and former ministers Gulchain Singh Charak and Mulla Ram today said that all the concerned authorities have been directed to take immediate effective measures.
Addressing media persons here today, these leaders said that during their visit to New Delhi they held detailed meetings with various central leaders including UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Union Home Minister Shiv Raj Patil, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukerjee, Union Minister for Tourism Amika Soni and Saif-ud-Din Soz PCC Chief and union Minister for Water Resources requesting them to play their role in settling various issues confronting the people of the state.
While welcoming the dialogue between the Government and the Sangarsh Samiti, spreading the agitation on Amarnath Shrine land row, these leaders hoped that an amicable solution as per the sentiments of the people of Jammu region shall be evolved at the earliest.
Congratulating the people of this region for maintaining perfect communal harmony during this surcharged atmosphere despite provocative utterances, the Congress leaders said that people of the state have always remained the symbol of brotherhood and communal harmony and continue to do so in future as well.
Condemning the provocative and anti- national utterances of some political leaders in the state, these Congress leaders have appealed the people of Sangarsh Samiti to remain very careful and vigilant against the mischievous elements who can create the wedge between different regions.
Former MLA Shiv Dev Singh, Lalita Sharma and Kamal Singh Corporators were also present at the press conference.
