Dr Harleen Kaur awarded for COVID-19 testing

JAMMU, Oct 17: Dr Harleen Kaur, Associate Professor Department of Microbiology Government Medical College Jammu was today awarded for her services for COVID RT- PCR testing during the pandemic by Financial Commissioner Health & Medical Education, Atal Dulloo where in her role in dealing with the pandemic has been appreciated. Financial commissioner in his communiqué has described her as the real hero of this Union Territory and stressed that they value every single effort to save every life during this challenging time, “Your courage and strength are greatly appreciated” he further added. Dr Harleen Kaur was appointed as Nodal Officer IIIM Lab Canal Road for Corona testing. She successfully got the lab registered with ICMR Delhi by getting virtual inspections of the IIIM laboratory during the lockdown period. She has done her MD in Clinical Microbiology from prestigious Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences Sewa Gram Wardha.
She has worked extensively on the prevalence of antibiotic resistance among disease causing micro organism and has been vocal on judicious use of antibiotics. She has also been honoured by Brigadier Kanwarjit Singh Commandant Military Hospital for her contribution in COVID-19 patients from Military Hospital. Brigadier Kanwarjit Singh has expressed his gratitude for the professionalism shown by Dr Kaur in processing COVID-19 samples from the Military Hospital Jammu as she had not visited her home for nearly more than 5 months and had stayed in hotels.
Dr Kaur has also been honoured by Member Parliament Jugal Kishore and ex-DyCM Kavinder Gupta besides many other social and political organizations for her selfless services. She has pioneered the Corona testing techniques and was highly appreciated for her strict quality control measures.
