• Samiti toughens posture, intensifies agitation
• Complete Chakka Jam, shut down today
• Only patients, media persons can move
• Massive rally planned at Parada for Aug 27

Outcome of a dialogue to resolve the land row is though still keenly awaited, the Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti has further intensified its agitation calling for a complete Chakka Jam (wheel halt) and shut down for Monday. The ongoing shut down which had been called till August 25 has not been extended till August 31.
Convener of the Samiti Leela Karan Sharma told a press conference here today that no vehicles, not even private vehicle shall be allowed to ply on roads tomorrow. He however offered relaxation for the ailing patients and media persons to move about the town. The Samiti has also organized a massive rally for August 27 in which top religious leaders of the country have been invited to address the people of Jammu.
The Samiti convener, while talking to the media persons, accused the state and central government of bowing down before 'separatists and anti-national' elements in Kashmir Valley over Amarnath land transfer issue.
Sharma criticized the the state and the central governments for their alleged failure in handling the "secessionist" and "anti-national" forces of the Kashmir Valley and alleged that no action so far has been initiated by the government against those who raised anti-national slogans and burnt national flag at Lal Chowk.
Briefing on the future strategy on agitation, the Samiti convener said that the shut down has been extended till August 31. "Besides this, there will be complete Chakka bandh from 6:00 A.M to 6:00 P.m tomorrow. We appeal to the people not to ply government, public and private vehicles including cars and scooters. There will be peaceful processions throughout the Jammu region," he maintained.
He further maintained that the Samiti has called upon the people to participate in the massive "Jammu rally" which will be organized on August 27 at 2:00 P.M at Parade Ground Jammu, adding that the Samiti will also hold a provincial rally on August 31 at Parade Ground in which Sadhu Samaj from all over the country will address the masses.
About the dialogue with the Governor's four-member panel, the members of the Samiti disclosed that it has submitted its demand comprising diversion of land, withdrawal of cases against the activists, compensation to the transporters, traders, farmers and fruit growers, adding that it appeared that the government is under pressure of anti-national forces and so far it has not taken any decision in the matter.
