10/18/2020 12:27:44 AM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 17: Unemployed drivers and helpers under the aegis of Tractor Union, staged a protest demonstration in the city against the government ban on mining. The protest was held under the leadership of Arif Hussain, Chairman of the union.
The protest was also supported by young political activist, Partap Singh Jamwal alongwith Nikhil Sharma who said thousands of families whose livelihood were dependent on sand and stone mining in the river beds were now out of jobs due to the ban imposed.
Partap said that over thousands of labourers engaged in sand mining were severely affected by the ban. He said that common people are ignorant about the benefits from the ban on mining, but what they know is that the ban has been like a dark cloud covering Jammu and Kashmir and bringing a lot of misery to the people. Earlier, Chairmen Union Arif Hussain said that the ban on mining has largely affected daily earners, who are dependent on mining. Airf Hussain threatened to launch intense forms of agitations if the government fails to come with a positive response to address their grievances at the earliest possible period.
