| BAJ demanded appointment of delimitation Commission | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Aug 25
Today 56th day the work in the High Court Jammu Wing and Subordinate Courts affected due to non-appearance of lawyers on the appeal of Bar Association who supporting the SAYSS fighting for restoration of land to Shri Amar Nath Ji Shrine Board. Today the Bar Association in a press-conference demanded compensation for the business communities to Jammu region, transporters and the persons who had died or injured during the agitation, as part with the compensation announced by the Govt for the Kashmir Valley. President BAJ Adv BS Salathia criticizes the state govt and central govt for not implementing the Gajendragadher Commission, Sekri Commission and Wazir Commission recommendations favoring the people of Jammu region. Besides other demands BAJ demanded appointment of delimitation Commission to delimit the constituencies in the state of J&K before the elections or held to the J&K Legislative Assembly on the basis of area and population of Jammu. As per the President BAJ the area of Jammu region is 10000 KM more than area of Kashmir valley and population is also more than lacs of Kashmir Valley wheras presently assembly seat is comprising between 50000 TO 60000 voters and the assembly seat in Jammu region is between 75000 to 1 lac voters, the parliament seats in the Kashmir valley are 3 whereas the parliament seats for the Jammu region is only two. Despite these facts BAJ demanded constitution of delimitation Commission. According to the secretary BAJ Mr. Pawan Manni the advocates will remain abstained from the Court till August 31, 2008. Before addressing the press-conference BAJ organized a rally in the Satwari area to mobilize the public opinion on the ongoing agitation regarding Amarnath Ji Land Row. JNF |
