BJP former State President Thakur Baldev Singh today expired after long illness. This was stated here today in a press release by BJP State Press Secretary Balbir Ram. According to the press release, born in June 1917 in Pune where his father Subedar Major Narayain singh was posted in Indian army, Thakur Baldev Singh got induced patriotic feelings in his mind since birth. Thakur Baldev Siingh is survived by three sons and three daughters. His cremation will take place on Tuesday at 11 a.m.at Kathua. Meanwhile, the state BJP President Ashok Khajuria, Former Union Minister Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta, Member National Executive Dr. Nirmal Singh and other senior leaders of the party has expressed grief and sorrow over the sad demise of Thakur Baldev Singh and prayed God to give strength to the bereaved family to bear the loss caused by the sad demise. He had long asociation with the social and nationalist associations. He was also jailed during the 1953 Praja Parishad agitation and Food agitation of 1970. His popularity can be judged from the fact that he was elected as Member of Parliament in the year 1977 as an independent candidate from Jammu-Poonch constituency for the first time. Thakur Baldev Singh was later elected as State President of the State unit of BJP in the year 1980 and served the party as its president till 1989.
