KVK Reasi organizes Field Day on Sesame Crop

Reasi, Oct 22: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi under the administrative control of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu(SKUAST-J) organized field day on sesame (til) crop here today at Malad village of Pouni block in Reasi district of J&K which was enthusiastically attended by a number of farmers of the area. The major objective of the programme was to showcase the success of sesamum cultivation in the area. The programme was organized by following the SOPs of COVID-19 pandemic. The programme was organised under the able guidance of Director Extension of SKUAST-Jammu, Dr.SK Gupta. The programme was initiated by Dr. Banarsi Lal, Scientist &Head of KVK, Reasi with the warm welcome of the farmers. He started the programme with the brief introduction of Kharif oilseed crops and said that sesamum is one of the leading oilseed crops in the region. He stressed on the scientific farming of sesamum and urged farmers to adopt the technologies of sesamum recommended by KVK, Reasi. He emphasized on the quality seed of sesamum crop and added that there is an immense potential of sesamum production in the area. He educated the farmers on scientific cultivation of sesamum and added that scientific cultivation can help them to enhance their crops production.
