Jammu | Aug 26

The Ministry of Defence on Tuesday released a press
release stating that despite disturbed situation in Kashmir valley and Jammu regions of the State, the Army has ensured that the NH1A remains open to civilian vehicular traffic.
Normal vehicular traffic has continued on the Srinagar-Jammu road for past over three weeks.
Even on August 25, when call for shutdown and "Chakka Jam" was issued
in Jammu and call for defying curfew orders were given by the separatists in the valley, over 1000 civilian vehicles moved unhindered and unharmed between Srinagar and Jammu.
A total of 694 vehicles moved to Srinagar while 391 vehicles moved from Srinagar to Jammu. The vehicular traffic comprised mostly (over 75 per cent) of trucks and oil tankers and the rest were light vehicles and passenger buses.
Similar traffic pattern has been observed even today. The Army is committed to ensuring that no disruptions are caused to vehicular movement between Jammu and valley regions of the Jammu and Kashmir State.
