10/26/2020 11:30:07 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct, 26: Additional Sessions Judge Doda Mehmood Choudhary rejected the bail application of Shakeir Hussain Butt, son of Abdul Qayoom Butt R/o Near Grid Station Thathri, District Doda who was facing trial in alleged smuggling of heroine.
According to the police case that on 03.02.2020, police of P/S, Doda received an information through reliable source that accused namely Shakir Hussain and Firdous Ahmed in connivance with other suspected persons are doing the business of illicit trade of contraband drug in Doda District. On this information, Police of P/S, Doda had registered a case and SHO, P/S, Doda along with Tehsildar, Doda and other police personnel laid a Naka at Ganpat Bridge, near Chashma and during Naka checking, police party had stopped a Car bearing Registration No JK06A-3964, which was being driven by accused Firdous Ahmed. Accused Shakir Hussain was also sitting in the car. During search of the accused persons, police had recovered contraband drug (Heroine) weighing 730 grams from the possession of the accused persons and the prima-facie offences under sections 8/21/29 of NDPS Act are made out against the accused person.
Additional Sessions Judge Doda Mehmood Choudhary while rejecting the bail application observed that when the whole society is voicing concern about the colossal impact of drug addiction and drug trafficking on the society and especially the young generation, which is the hope of nation, the court cannot sit as a mute spectators and allow this menace to grow, rather court has to come forward and play its pivot-able role in curbing the menace by such orders, giving sufficient deterrent message to the society. Any leniency at the stage of this case by granting bail will not only demoralize the police whose putting efforts by nabbing such criminals but will also embolden these criminals and their ilk in their nefarious design. —JNF
