JMC Mayor visits Bahu Fort

JAMMU, Oct, 27: Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation alongwith Sharda Kumari Councilor of ward no.47 today conducted an extensive tour in the areas of Bahu Fort & its adjoining localities.
Parvez Malik, Executive Engineer (PWD) alongwith other field staff of public works department, supervisory staff of sanitation section of JMC, Sardar Dalbir Singh ward no.47 president, Krishan Lal ji & other prominent inhabitants of the locality were also accompanied the mayor during the tour. The residents of the locality put forth various issues before the mayor which includes construction of proper drains/nallah as all the dirty water from main road Rajeev Nagar area enters into their shops as well as residential area instead of flowing directly into the nallah.
Mayor directed the concerned XEN Public works department to take immediate concrete measures so that water properly flows within the drain /nallah and doesnot cause any further damage to the life & property of the locals and shopkeepers. Mayor also took status of the prestigious project of widening of road from main road national Highway towards Bahu fort which is lying pending since long as people of the area as well as devotees who come for darshan of Mata Bawe wali ji on routine basis is facing great hardships due to continuous traffic congestion in the area.
Mayor was apprised by the engineers of public works department that the estimate of Rs 5.5 crore of widening of road of 10 meters breadth having 2.2 kms length has already been submitted to the senior officers for its final approval. Mayor assured that he will personally take up the matter with the higher authorities to get this project finalized which is in the larger public interest. He also met with the locals who putforth their other issues like blacktopping of the road leading towards historic Bahu temple, filling up of pit holes, deployment of more Skc's for maintaining better sanitary condition in the locality, lifting up of stray dogs /animals on routine basis, construction/renovation of left over drains & lanes , installation of LED street /High mast lights in the remaining localities of Bahu fort as well as rectification of defunct street lights to avoid any type of untoward incidents due to prevailing darkness in some of the lanes.
