| JSM concerned over Poonch, Kishtwar situation | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Aug 27
Expressing deep concern over the communal incidents in Poonch and Kishtwar, engineered by PDP and NC cadres, Prof. Virender Gupta, President Jammu State Morcha (P) has strongly criticized and condemned the State administration of its failure to arrest any of the instigators and participants of these acts even when their names have been identified and some of them published in the local dailies. It is an irony that neither the State Administration and nor the Government of India has taken a serious note of the communal violence in these Muslim majority areas where the houses and shops of the minorities of Hindu and Sikhs were burnt and looted. Gupta demanded that the State Governor and the Union Home Minister should visit these areas to instill confidence and assure safety of these minorities along with giving adequate compensation to the victims as these engineered communal violent incidents are only being done to force the migration of the minorities from these areas and create communal tension in Jammu region. He also demanded that there should be an immediate change in the civil and the police administration in these areas, besides revamping the security setup for the protection of the minorities in these areas. He also appealed to the people of Jammu region in general and Poonch and Kishtwar in particular, to maintain communal harmony and traditional brotherhood along with mutual trust and not fall prey to the rumours. |
