Thousands of people thrown to three days long Sankari Devta mela which commence In Panchari area of Udhampur district . The mela was formally inaugurated by Block Development officer Panchari amidst hugue gathering on Tuesday . More than Five thousand people from different areas visited at mela on the first day . . Number of sweets shops , toy shops & amusement centers were attraction for the
children visiting the mela side .
Due to Amarnath Land agitation the government has not displayed any government stalls in the mela and higher district officials also did not visit there giving plea of line and order situation . Meanwhile Elaborate security & other arrangements for the mela has been made by district administration enroute from udhampur to Panchari & at
the mela site , in wake of militants threat in the state The temple of Sankari Devta is situated about 30 kms away from udhampur district towards Udhampur to Pancheri -lander road, and is famous for its worship. This temple shows one of the face of God Shiva where large no. of devotees through out the country visit here every year, with the hope that their desires may be fulfilled. According to local priest of temple so many stories are associated with this temple.. A Dangal is also organized on the last day of mela , in which wrestlers from different area of state and outside state participated. |
