| Stranded patients, attendants sent homes: Govt | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | Aug 27
The Administration today pressed into service a fleet of ambulances to send the patients discharged from city hospitals to their homes in various districts of the Valley. The step was taken to facilitate these people reach their homes in the wake of imposition of the curfew in Srinagar and other major towns of the valley. The Governor, N. N. Vohra, had convened a high level meeting yesterday to take stock of the situation, especially the problems facing the people due to the imposition of curfew. Besides, allowing relaxation in curfew in phases, it was decided that arrangements would be made to transport the stranded patients and their attendants to their respective places. The ambulances were sent to different hospitals in the City from where the patients discharged from hospitals and their attendants boarded the specially arranged ambulances to go to their homes. According to official reports over 300 patients including the attendants were sent to their homes in various districts of the valley while a fresh batch of 19 patients discharged from various wards was being sent to their places today. Likewise, ambulances were also used to facilitate the cured patients and their attendants from the Bone and Joint Hospital go to their homes in various parts of the valley. The Hospital Administration arranged transportation of about 60 patients in ambulances to their homes in different districts of the valley since the imposition of curfew. Arrangements were being made to shift the 13 patients discharged from the hospital in the ambulances to be provided by the Police Control Room today. |
