While the security forces were fighting to rescue the eight civilians held hostage in a Jammu house, the team of a television channel managed to talk to one of the three militants over phone about their intentions. Talha Jadad, 27, whom the Aaj Tak interviewed, said he was a businessman before picking the gun. "We did not intend to take the civilians hostage. When we entered the house hurriedly, theseoccupants were already present," he said reasoning the captivation of eight including three women and four children. "We don't want to harm civilians, we are fighting against the army," Jadad added. Asked how a few militants will fight a huge army, Jadad said the number was not significant for them and they will continue fighting for their cause. "We will fight against the armed forces until they stop harassing us. They have been holding our supplies in the Kashmir Valley and our crops are spoiling," he added. "Army harass Muslims that is why I took up the gun and so do many others like me. If army does not stop doing this, blood will keep spilling over," Jadad concluded. |
