| BJP decline Singhvi's statement, blames cong for political bankrupt | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Aug 28
Dismissing with contempt the Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi’s accusation that the BJP played a “negative role” in the Amarnath land row to “fish in troubled waters”, BJP State Vice President and spokesperson Prof. Hari Om today said that ‘the Congress has gone totally politically bankrupt’. “Being a responsible largest opposition party it was its legitimate duty to expose the communal approach of the Congress to the land diversion issue and fight for the freedom of judiciary, Prof. Om, said that ‘BJP did it’ adding that “had the BJP not supplemented the efforts of the Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangarsh Samiti (SAYSS) and joined its land restoration struggle, the BJP would have been regarded as a sinner”. The BJP feels satisfied that it played its role in a responsible and constructive manner and has succeeded in exposing the Congress’s communal ideology and its urge to pander to religious extremists, said the BJP spokesperson. As far the approach of the Prime Minister and the Congress party towards the Shri Amarnath land row, Prof. Om said that it is contradictory and mutually exclusive. In this regard, the BJP spokesperson drew the attention to the Prime Minister’s reply to BJP veteran and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha L. K. Advani and said that while the Prime Minister has appreciated the suggestion of the former Deputy Prime Minister that the Amarnath land row should be resolved taking into consideration the High Court’s judgments on the issue, the likes of Singhvi are unnecessarily trying to tarnish the image of the BJP. He also asked Singhvi to first snub his colleagues like Jayanthi Natrajan and Munish Tiwari, who have consistently said that the ongoing movement in Jammu is based on “falsehood and lies” and then comment on the issue. Pooh-poohing the Singhvi’s claim that it is the Congress party and the UPA Government which have taken the initiative to resolve the Amarnath land row, the BJP spokesman said that it was the Congress-led government in the state which made an issue out of a non-issue to appease the Kashmiri religious fanatics and put the people of Jammu on war path. “It is the unique mass struggle in Jammu which has forced the Union Government to admit its guilt”, said Prof Om, adding that everyone is aware in Jammu and elsewhere of the dubious role of the Congress in the episode. Ridiculing the suggestion of Singhvi that Kashmiri separatists should forget that Kashmir would ever get segregated from India, Prof. Om reminded him that it was he who on August 23 did not reject the idea of Kashmir becoming independent of India when asked by the NDTV anchor if the suggestion to the effect put forth by Mirwaiz Omar Farooq, NC president Omar Abdullah and PDP, President Mehbooba Mufti could be considered. Prof. Hari Om reminded him that it was he who had publicly said during the NDTV India-sponsored Muqabala that “this is not the appropriate time as the state is burning and that the ideas of freedom for Kashmir or autonomy for Kashmir could be discussed at a later date”. Prof. Hari Om asked the Congress to take a clear line on Jammu and Kashmir and abandon its appeasement policy. |
