| BCFI to fight for its rights: Verma | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Aug 28
At an extraordinary meeting of its Central Executive Committee, the Backward Classes Federation of India, held under the Chairmanship of Harbans Lal Verma, reviewed the situation obtaining in Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting expressed its concern that despite having 65 per cent population in the state, the BCFI has neither been given any representation by the Sangarsh Samiti nor the state administration in the ongoing talks. The BCFI also strongly condemned the attitude of all the upper caste people from amongst other religions in failing to give any representation to the weaker sections in any forum and warned to launch a separate agitation in the state for accomplishment of its demands which include enhancing the reservation quota to 27 per cent, issuance of single OBC Certificate forever, applicable in J&K State as well as other States and Central Government jobs/institutions; amending the Jammu & Kashmir Reservation Act, 2004 and the Jammu & Kashmir Reservation Rules, 2005; removing “Creamy Layer embargo” from OBCs reservation; and constituting separate Advisory Board for the OBCs in the state. The meeting among others was attended by Nek Ram Dofara, H.L.Verma, Bua Ditta, Vinod Ram, Bharat Bhushan, Manohar Lal, K.L.Basotra, Tilak Raj, Ghulam Nabi Butt, I.H.Nizar, Reham Din Malik, Madan Lal, Bishan Dass, Pawan Kumar and Ashok Kumar Basotra. |
