State Congress hopeful of early resolution of land row: Lal Singh

Congress party in Jammu and Kashmir is hopeful of positive outcome in land row favouring Shri Amarnath Shrine Board after discussing the issue with top brass of party at the Centre including UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Kashmir affairs committee.
Divulging the developments of meeting with Congress top brass at New Delhi at a press conference here, Ch. Lal Singh, along with other party men of State Congress, on Thursday said that they had briefed central leadership of the party about the mass agitation in Jammu and their demands of restoration of land to SASB and recalling of Governor from the state.
‘We are hopeful of positive outcome in land row favouring SASB very soon’, said Ch. Lal Singh and maintained that a Congress delegation of Jammu during their visit to New Delhi has almost met with every Congress leader and apprised them about the discriminatory attitude of Kashmir leadership with the people of Jammu region in every sphere of life since very long.
He also said that during their discussion with the party leadership at the centre, it was categorically and forcefully impressed upon the party leadership to set up delimitation commission before the assembly elections to end discrimination with Jammu. He said the party high command gave a patient hearing to their demands and assured of positive resolution of the land row issue which would be acceptable to the people of Jammu. Holding PDP and NC responsible of prevailing crisis, he said that it was because of Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah that the situation in the state got worsened and accused these leaders for launching anti-national propaganda.
The Member Parliament further revealed that the state congress leaders vociferously demanded adequate compensation of Rs. 25 lakhs and a job to each of the family members of those who lost their lives during the agitation in Jammu, besides adequate compensation to the vegetable sellers, fruit growers, traders, transporters, industrialists and other sectors on priority basis.
Describing the ongoing agitation as the peoples’ mass movement in Jammu, Lal Singh has impressed upon the party leadership at the centre and the central government to rise to the occasion and address the genuine grievances of the Jammuties who have been subjugated during the last six decades.
R S Chib who also addressed the media persons hailed the decision of the Sangarsh Samiti to postpone the proposed rally yesterday in view of the terrorists strike and said that the Samiti has once again demonstrated its nationalistic and secular character.
The Centre must take tough steps to deal with the militants in the state’ Chib observed and felt the need for further tightening vigil on the border to check infiltration from across the border.
Raman Balla, Garu Ram, Kanta Andhotra and Girdari Lal Chalotra were also present on the occasion.
They also strongly condemned terrorist attack on innocent civilians in Chinore and expressed their solidarity with the bereaved families.
