ACB produces charge-sheet against SI, Guard of Excise Department

SRINAGAR, Nov 10: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) produced charge sheet against the then Sub Inspector (SI) and the former Excise Guard, Excise and Taxation Department toll post Lower Munda Anantnag in the Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Anantnag.
The charge sheet was produced against then SI Naseer Ahmad and Guard Manzoor Ahmad in case FIR No 55/2015 P/S VOK (now ACB), under section 5(1) d r/w 5(2) PC Act. Svt 2006, 120-B, 420 /RPC.
The instant case was registered by ACB on the allegations that officers/ officials of toll post Lower Munda were looting innocent drivers by abuse of their official position and charging Rs 1500 to Rs 3000 per truckload as toll charges. A surprise check was conducted on 21.01.2015 by the ACB team in presence of magistrate and during the check of a particular shift manned by the accused officials, excess cash of thousands of rupees was found which was collected from the passing trucks in excess of the permissible amount of Rs 600 per vehicle under rules.
Both the accused persons were presented before the Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Anantnag for further legal action. Further trial of the case will proceed in due course.
