| KAHDC goes to polls today | | | Early Times Reporter Kargil | Aug 29
For smooth conduct of general election of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Kargil scheduled for tomorrow, as many as 892 polling staff and more than 1000 police personnel including para military forces have been deployed in the district. This was stated at a joint meeting of Zonal Magistrate and Sectors Officers held today to review the overall arrangements of election of LAHDC, Kargil, which was chaired by the Deputy Commissioner, Satesh Nehru. The DC informed that 223 polling stations for 24 council constituencies have been set up for an electorate of 83,883 in the district. Of the total polling stations, 24 have been identified as hyper sensitive and 36 as sensitive. He stressed upon the Zonal Magistrates and Sector Officers to work in close coordination in their jurisdictions and ensure the maintenance of law and order in their respective zones and sectors. They have also been asked to submit situation reports after every two hours to the Deputy Commissioner and the SSP about the proceeding on the date of polling. |
