According to Health and Medical Education department, sufficient stock of drugs and medicines are available in hospitals and other health institutions in the valley. A meeting to review the stock position of medicines in health institutions was held here under the chairmanship of Commissioner/Secretary, Health and Medical Education. The Principal, Government Medical College, Srinagar, Director Health Services Kashmir and Medical Superintendents participated in the meeting. The Principal Government Medical College stated that all emergency services were being provided in all the hospitals round the clock. "Ambulances have been pressed into service to carry doctors and other para-medical staff to the hospitals", he said adding that the essential drugs were sufficient for four weeks. Additional supplies are also being received by air and by road, and curfew passes have been provided to chemists and fair price shop owners, he informed adding that the discharged patients are being provided transport and curfew passes to reach their destinations. Director Health Services has issued annual supplies to health institutions under his control in the month of May and June. The district and sub-district hospitals are also functional. Ambulances are being used to carry doctors and other para-medical staff to and fro the hospitals, the official reports said. |
