| Romesh pays surprise visit to SICOP offices, suspend IPO | | | Jammu, Sept 08 :Minister of State for Public Health Engineering Dr. Romesh Chander Sharma today visited Company Bagh Pumping Station to take stock of water supply being made to Jammu city and its adjoining areas. Executive Engineer Mechanical (North) apprised the Minister, the station have seven high capacity motors with intake capacity of 1 lakh galleon of water per hour. He said that the pumping station store the drinking water in parade over head tank (OHT) then made adequate drinking water supply to old city besides 2.5 Lakh galleons of water is lifted to Rasham Garh OHT. Minister was also apprised about the supply of portable water through tankers from company bagh filling station; where from more than 130 waters tankers are supplying drinking water to outskirts of the Jammu city daily. Later, Minister visited to District Industries Centre Jammu and said that the industrial sector is the back bone of states economy and needed to boost on priority basis. Giving details of the total industrial units registered with DIC, General Manager DIC Jammu apprised the Minister that out of total ten thousand industrial units 6000 units are sick. He asked the accompanied officers to make joint efforts so that the sick units could be revived. The Minister also paid surprise visit to SICOP offices of Gangyal and Digiana. He found some official were absent from duty. He suspended the Industrial Promotion officer (IPO), Jammu on the spot and asked the authorities to call on explanation of other three absent employees of SICOP.
