| Dialogue delayed by day, SAYSS smells foul play | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Aug 29
There are many a slips between the cup and the lips –this aptly describes the public expectations and Government’s resolve to the end the ongoing crisis over the Shri Amarnath Shrine land transfer row as the fourth round of crucial dialogue was today put off yet again. Official sources said that Governor’s Advisor Dr Sudhir Singh Bloeria, who is leading a four member panel including himself, was still not feeling well to travel down to Jammu to resume the dialogue. The dialogue was earlier slated for Thursday afternoon but was put off to Friday following sudden indisposition of Bloeria. Sources said that a team of doctors examined Bloeria and he was advised to be on rest for another day. “Dr Bloeria will be able to travel to Jammu on Saturday and dialogue is likely to be resumed the same afternoon”, said an official spokesman. Meanwhile, the Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti, spearheading the two-month long agitation, today doubted the Government’s sincerity in holding dialogue to resolve issue. “We climbed down from our stated condition on removal of IGP Jammu and SSPs of three districts to resume the dialogue but the way it (dialogue) is being deferred continuously smacks of insincerity”, says SAYSS convener Leela Karan Sharma. "The meeting has again been deferred today in view of the illness of Chairman of the Governor's panel and Advisor Dr S S Bloeria," Sri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti (SAYSS) spokesperson Dr Narinder Singh said. He said the Samiti was informed by the government of the decision and no fresh date was given for the talks. However, sources in the government said that the meeting would be held on Saturday. Thursday's scheduled round of talks between the panel appointed by the Governor N N Vohra to resolve the issue in the wake of a two-month long agitation by the SAYSS was deferred for the same reason. The Samiti had already submitted written demands to the governor's panel and are expecting a favourable response from them, the spokesman said. The group earlier held three rounds of talks with the governor's panel on August 23. However, the talks remained inconclusive and it was agreed by both sides that they would resume the discussions at a later stage. A five-point agenda had been set for the talks which included reconstitution of the Amarnath Shrine Board, clarifying in appropriate details, the role and duties of the Shrine Board. It also includes assessment of the total requirement of land by the Shrine Board and working out an arrangement for use of 100 acres of land at Baltal-Domail by the SASB during the period of yatra. |
