| Jammu agitation: Contours & Future Prospects | | | As a Citizen Journalist, VIKRANT SHARMA looks at the Jammu agitation, the sentiment behind uprising, the cause of unrest and future course of identity assertion
Who gave the agitation to us?
A: PDP in order to gain political mileage in expectation of the coming elections to get highlighted as the party of Kashmir trying to be numerous uno of the state politics bracketing the congress and the NC. D: Governor with its demolition mission supped by the wry centre with “Gobble the cooler first” tendency. It took nine after missing the stitch in time. The centre bought a penny for the price of 10,000 crores which is the estimated cumulative loss in the Jammu region alone.
Why it hurt Jammu Psyche more than the Hindu Psyche elsewhere in India?
Proximity to the Muslims culture for at least 60 plus years of Independence India and before , Jammu and Kashmir Hindu community had been living under the bully Kashmiri Psyche that kept reaping advantages by pretending pain at the hand of Physician India who shall keep changing treatment with alternatives of elixirs and placebos. If this land in question is going to be a temporary endowment, all other communal endowments from now on shall be asked to be temporary, without a right to threaten th environment with concrete buildings. Let they who started this be paid in the same measures.
Opening of Muzzafrabad road?
Pakistan will never accept a free access to its territory. It will suspect any Indian move. If the roads are opened and territories diluted, a Jammu trader too will benefit from it. Kashmiris can not use these roads to the exclusion to all Indian. Neither can 370 preclude the movement of other than JK trucks. Kashmir shall have to allow free access to ll Indian transport forgetting is as an intervention into Kashmir. It shall have to understand the rudiment of give and take as a way of line in a democratic capitalistic setup.
The Kashmiris may trade with Pak but to use its territory the obligation of the Pakistani road tax, commercial Taxes, Entry taxes may have to be tolerated Pak is hardly going as equivalent autonomy to Azad Kashmir. The landlockness of Kashmir shall make it dependent on either Pak or India- at least one big setback to their total autonomy, one more being that Jammu does not yet subscribe to this Idea? Total autonomy means total commitment, hard work and sacrifice but Kashmir has yet to known it for it has reeled under subsidy, easy employment, negligible competition and usury of the Indian Crown- Kashmir and easy money flowing into it from India and elsewhere.
What is the future of the mainstream political parties in Jammu and Kashmir?
All the political parties nearly failed in their test taking in the state. One large and the older party could not be but communal by canceling the allotment in favour of a particular faith, other who support at the centre were abjectly communal in their vision and conduct. The psyche they titillated in Kashmir was antagonistic to the spirit of India. Their autonomy/Azadi/Healing (AAH) are mere their respective changing frames of their spectacles through which they see their votes.
One other party that seemed to support the nationalistic movement of Jammu is already communal in the log books of other parties. The encouragement of dialogue is only professed for all other than the political parties that have long shunned dialogue to only tear each others clothes. They dialogue only o sharing power but never for sharing the power with masses.
None had a reason for self flagellation. Jammu, behaving like credulous-corrigible child kept awaiting treatment but it was given a struggle which is till unending ever after the land allotment may keep simmering in the state. |
