Lawyers to resume work on Tuesday
‘Take out victory procession today’

Bar Association Jammu in a meeting held today under the chairmanship of its President Adv BS Salathia decided to resume work on Tuesday September 2, 2008 and also decided to celebrate the victory day on September 1, 2008.
BAJ thanked the people of Jammu for their en-mass support to the agitation regarding Amarnath land row and welcomed the agreement arrived at between the Government and Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangarsh Samiti regarding restoration of land and autonomous status of Shrine Board.
According to the Secretary Bar Association Pawan Manini the members of the Bar Association will assemble in the Court complex Janipur tomorrow to celebrate the victory and thereafter take out a procession which will pass through various markets and localities of Jammu city to convey thanks to the people for their unconditional support to the Sangarsh Samiti. BAJ also thanked all the Bar Association of Jammu region who lent whole hearted support to the cause of the peoples of Jammu region besides expressing their gratitude to the all the organization social, political, students, traders, transporters, industries, employees particularly including Muslim & Sikh organizations who stood by the people of Jammu region to make the agitation a grand success, BAJ also remembered the sacrifices made by several persons and vowed not to led their sacrifice go in vain. BAJ called upon the people of Jammu region to be ready for a bigger fight against the discrimination and other inequalities inflicted upon them by the Kashmir centric Politicians which have emerged as a consensus. Bar Association asked the administration to take stern measures to deal with the menace of terrorism which has started raising its ugly head in Jammu region and further urged to smash the hide out of such elements who are hell bent to disturb the peace and communal harmony of Jammu region besides including in the killing of innocent and peace loving citizens.
In the agreement reached between SAYSS and Boleria Panel regarding the withdrawal of LPA filed by the State Government through Chief Secretary on April 30, 2005 against the Judgment passed by the Justice Permod Kohli in Shri Amarnath Yatra on April 15, 2005, has said that it is agreed that the Law Department in the state government will examine the issue of disposal off LPA in terms of the undertaking made herein above within one month.
As per the demand of the Bar Association which put forth in its memorandum regarding constitution of delimitation commission for readjustment of seats in the State Legislative Assembly, it is worthwhile to mention here that a Public Interest Litigation has been filed in the State High Court challenging the 29th Constitution Amendment 2002 providing that it shall not be necessary to readjust the total number of seats in the State Legislative Assembly till the year 2026 indirectly debarring and deferring the constitution of delimitation Commission for readjustment of seats in the J&K Legislative Assembly up to 2031.
