| PM assures J-K for deputing central team to assess flood losses in J&K | | CM apprises PM of the magnitude of flood devastation | | SRINAGAR, September 08 Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad soon after reviewing the flood situation and relief measures in a special cabinet meeting he convened here today, talked to Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on phone and apprised him of the flood situation and damages caused to standing crops, livestock, property and public infrastructure. He also apprised the Prime Minister of the measures, the state has taken for rescue and relief of the affected. The Chief Minister requested the Prime Minister for early deputing of central team to the state for assessment of losses, saying the magnitude of damage is vast and invites prompt attention for relief and rehabilitation of the affected. Prime Minister assured Mr. Azad that central team would be deputed to the state within next 24 hours. It may be recalled that Chief Minister is personally monitoring the situation from the day first flood alarm was sounded in the state. He cut short his Leh tour and visited the flood affected areas, convened special cabinet meeting, deputed ministers to the affected areas, geared up the administration and received hour-to-hour reports about flood situation, rescue and relief measures He also visited flood affected areas in Jammu and took stock of the situation. Chief Minister also convened a meeting of Cabinet today to get the full appraisal of the situation and interacted with the Ministers who have been deputed to the affected areas for monitoring relief measures. He has given directions to all concerned agencies to finalize the details of losses and its submission to the concerned authorities so that a comprehensive proposal for central assistance is formulated for immediate release of funds.
