Early Times Report

UDHAMPUR, Nov 25: In a major negligence by Jal Shakti Department a big supply pipe at MH Chowk Udhampur has developed a major leak from which thousands of litres of water is being wasted for the last some days while many parts of the district get water supply on third or fourth day.
"Not only the water is being wasted from the leak but the pool of water collected from the leak mixes with it mud and all dirt which goes with water to households thereby having a potential of becoming a health hazard," a university student said.
A local from Rounth under municipal limit said that his area gets poor water supply while it is being wasted here without any check.
Similar were the views of many others in the town who flayed the careless attitude of the department.
"Is it that the concerned lineman or the watchman has not noticed the leak and alerted the department to correct it," a retired Govt employee in the town said.
Many others said that this is a small example of careless attitude of the government employees who protest on delay of salaries even by a day but their work culture is clearly reflected by such leaks and glowing street lights even in broad daylights. When contacted, AEE Jal Shakti Department said that he is not aware of the leak but he assured to get it corrected soon.
