| DDC reviews construction on sports stadium | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Sep 1
District Development Commissioner Kathua Ms Mandeep Kour convened a meeting to review the progress made in construction/upgradation of stadium at Kathua today. Among others, the meeting was attended by SE Hydraulic, Incharge Sports Council Jammu, Chief Planning Officer Kathua, DFOs, Territorial and Social Forestry, Engineers of Sports Council, Stadium Management and Youth Service and Sports Officer Kathua. It was apprised in the meeting that the proposed Rs.131 lakh project for the construction/upgradation of sports stadium at Kathua envisages construction of compound walls, filling of RBM and fine earth, installation of sprinkler for irrigation, furling, slopping, drainage system and seating tiles. The RBM and earth filling has been completed and the works have been put to halt for want of additional land from Irrigation Department for the construction of stadium of international standard. The DDC directed the concerned authorities to prepare papers for the purpose of diversion of land to the sports council for early completion of the ambitious project so that the sports activities can be resumed. She further exhorted upon the sports officers to gear up the activities of the department and prepare a proper calendar of activities under rural sports well in advance. Incharge Sports Council Jammu was asked to provide the details of the proposed project Rs.131 lakh and present position of funds with requisition so that matter can be taken up with the appropriate authorities for funding. The DDC also directed the Irrigation Engineers to submit the detailed report of the encroached land and demarcation of Irrigation land besides Vivekananda College of Education for canalization of the Nallah at Lakhanpur. |
