| Gojri translation of ‘Mathnavi Moulana Rum’ to hit stalls soon | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | Sep 1
In a major initiative to widen the access to classics of Persia, the Mathnavi Moulana Rum, a greatest work in six volumes has been rendered into Gojri, the language of tribal Gujjars of Northern India. The work of great Persian poet "Moulana Jalal-ud-Din Rumi" translated by renowned Gojri Scholar and translator Ch. Naseem Poonchi has been published by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages. Giving details, Dr. Javaid Rahi, Head, Gojri Wing of State Academy said here that rendering of this prestigious work into Gojri is a part of our significant translation projects where under 50 world classics of English, Persian, Arabic and Sanskrit are chosen for translation into Gojri. Almost 14 publications have already been translated this year into Gojri and the entire project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2010, he added. "This is unique project of its own kind in any Tribal Language of India, especially in Gojri, as this is one of the most ancient languages of India. Zaffar Manhas Secretary Academy said adding that the author of Mathnvi "Jalal-ud-Din Balkhi-Rumi", and described him as one of the great humanists, philosophers and poets. |
