| 7 model villages being developed in Kargil | | | Kargil, September 08 - Rs. 239.78 laks have been spent on 72 rural works by the Rural Development department in Kargil district up to ending August of the current financial year. This information was given in a meeting of officers and engineers of Rural Development Department convened to review the implementation of various rural development works in the district. The Executive Councilor (Rural development) LAHDC, Kargil Haji Mohammad Ishaq chaired the meeting. While speaking in the meeting, Haji Ishaq appreciated the role played by the functionaries of Rural Development Department during recent flood in different blocks and stressed upon the officers to put in more efforts to complete all pending works soon. Earlier, Assistant Commissioner Development Kargil said that 299 rural works have been taken in hand for execution during the current year under SGRY and work on these schemes is in full swing. An amount of Rs.3.20 crore has been earmarked under SGRY by the department for the year. It was further informed that seven villages of the district are being developed as model villages which included Karsha in Zanskar sub division, Namsuru, Trespone, Choskore, Pashkum, Khangral and Bhimbat. Work on 70 schemes including common facility centres, Village Informatics Centre, community halls, public libraries, public parks, play grounds, bus stand and Sanitation works is going on speedily in these model villages. Besides 19600 running mts. of lanes, drains and foot steps have already been completed, he added. |
