| Group of 28 senior Kargil citizens flagged off on visit of North India | | | Kargil, September 08 - A group of 28 senior citizens of Kargil district including eight females flagged off by Maj.Gen. V. S. Tonk, GOC 8 Mtn. for 18 days tour of North India from Kumbathang yesterday. The tour was arranged by 8 Mountain Artillery Brigade under OP Sadbhavana. Among others the flag-off ceremony was attended by the Executive Councilor (Works) LAHDC, Kargil Mr. Nasir Hussain Munshi, Executive Councilor (Agriculture) Kacho Gulzar Hussain Khan, Deputy Commissioner, Kargil Kacho Isfandyar Khan, Councilors and large numbers of people including civil and Army Officers. In their interaction with Maj. Gen. V.S. Tonk, the senior citizens expressed their gratitude to the Army for providing this opportunity to them to visit other parts of the country and acquiring knowledge about its rich cultural heritage. During the course of tour, senior citizens would visit various important religious and historical places like Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Jaipur, Agra, Ajmer, Lucknow and New Delhi and also have opportunity to interact with various dignitaries and a cross section of the people. Colorful cultural programmes were presented by the artists and students of KASCO and JNV School on the occasion. |
