Jammu | Sep 1

On day when Jammu resumed the normal business after 64 days of shutdowns, curfews, protest-demonstrations and a continuous uncertain state of affairs the business community was seen making quick beginning for a new era of peace and normalcy but one section among them appeared confused about their stocks.
The fall of summer is a peak season for the readymade garment dealers to shell off cool clothes at discounted prices and deck up the shelves for autumn collection. This summer, neither the brisk sales were made nor was their any opportunity to offer products on discounted prices. Now when the markets has reopened, it is already almost beginning of autumn. The readymade garment seller are now seen divided into two options: to go far a heavily discounted sale or put the clothes in godowns for next summers.
Undoubtedly the resolution has brought happiness and laughter's on the faces of all, everyone seems happy, and celebrating the victory all over Jammu and even many other parts of the country also, but on the other side, it appears that the two month long agitation has eroded many things on ground and it will take a quite long to rebuild the same status. The worst hit of the agitations are businessmen and especially the owners of readymade garments and other small business entrepreneurs . The business season of weddings in Jammu passed in Bandhs and curfew, the shops remained closed and the people could not make purchases. Moreover the summer season is also almost end, but in the showrooms and in ready garments summer stock of crores of rupees is lying without buyers, because its the end of summer season the shopkeers who left with huge cache of the summer stock are in trauma. 'Though we are relaxed, the agitation is off but are concerned about the dumped stock with us in our showrooms and godowns' says Ajay Abrol, who runs a kids wear showroom in Purani mandi of the city. Like Ajay many others does also have the same story because they have to deposit their loan installments to the bank, but there was no cash transaction in all these two months hence the things have become even more complicated for them. Arshad Shail, owner of a footwear showroom says in depress ' the whole sellers are pressuring us for the repayment of their dues, but we have no money even for the wages of our salesmen' but on the other side it may be a good opportunity for the ladies and kids to shop, because to clear the summer stock replacing with winter stock the showrooms are now coming with huge discounts and other complimentary gifts for their customers, it may not be good experience for the businessmen, but the customers may have an opportunity to avail heavy discounts in the purchase. The businessmen are now coming with strategy to clear their pending stocks; some of them have now even started to send back the remained stock to their wholesalers, because they have no money for the repayments of the bills. Even in the historic Hari Market, Raghunath Bazaar, the shopkeepers are planning for an open sale of the summer stock, 'many bundles and packing have not even been seal broken, but now were planning and consulting to decide for an exhibition-cum-sale to clear the pending stock' says Sunil Kumar, manger of famous 'Bhatia Sons' of the famous ready made showroom in the Posh Market of Apsara Road at Gandhi Nagar, he further added that the cash sales have also been declined The famous clothe market of Khilona Wala Gali in the old city, which is favourite for the ladies for the variety and colours of the fabric did also witnessed a huge crowd of women and teenagers but somewhere they were also reserved while making purchases because of the end of summer season, ' Its good, but at the moment I am bit confused while shopping because the season is about to off'' tells Priya who was there to shop with her friends.. Though there a long traffic Jam could be witnessed on Monday but none complained this time, ' believe me , I am delighted, this traffic jam depicts lively Jammu and color of life' said Janak Raj, who is in his 70's and running a toy shop in the Nai Basti area of Jammu. The coffee shops and restaurants did also welcomed their customers after a long pause of 60 days and all the tables there were occupied by the teenagers and families. The grain market of Kanak Mandi in Jammu did also witnessed a huge crowd, but the wholesalers there does not have the sufficient grain stocks with them, there was a scarcity of many items like Suji, Maid and Tea, ' there is a shortage of tea in the whole market, because we import it from other states' tells Bodh Raj, a wholesaler merchant. Due to the blockage the goods were not transported and hence there is a dearth of many other food items also. The dust will be settled soon and the life again will be on track with a passage of time and people will forget the scares of turmoil and hence again in the end it is the life that will win.
