Arrangements reviewed for Phase- IV of election

KUPWARA, Dec 5: District Panchayat Election Officer (DPEO) Kupwara, today reviewed the arrangements for fourth phase of District Development Council (DDC) constituencies, ULB and Panchayat By-Election being held on December 07.
The DPEO said that 02 DDC constituencies viz. Drugmulla and Mawar Qalamabad are going to polls on December 07 in which Drugmulla, Qalamabad and partly Kupwara and Langate blocks will be covered. He said all arrangements including security, transport and other relevant arrangements have been put in place for smooth conduct of election.
DPEO said that 25 DDC candidates, 09 Sarpanch, 169 Panch and 19 ward member are in fray, adding that, out of 25 DDC candidates, 11 belong to Drugmulla and 14 to Mawar Qalamabad.
He said that 64958 voters including 33474 male, 31482 female and 02 others are going to exercise their franchise in these constituencies.
The DPEO said that 140 polling stations (56 in Drugmulla and 84 in Mawar Qalamabad) have been established for which 426 presiding and polling officers have been detailed on duty.
He said that adequate security of contesting candidates and polling booths and staff has already beefed up and all arrangements have been put in place to ensure the election smoothly.
