Police arrests rape accused within six hours

Kulgam, Dec 5: Kulgam Police on Saturday arrested a rape accused within six hours after receiving the complaint from victim's family.
The accused, according to family, had raped a minor girl, videotaped the act and then uploaded on social media sites.
In a statement, police said that they received a written complaint from a person stating that his minor sister (name withheld) aged 17 Years has been raped, Video-graphed and later on same obscene video has been uploaded on social media networks.
Acting promptly upon the complaint, a team headed by SHO Devsar Insp. Jazib Mohammad under the Supervision of DySP PC Kulgam Shri. Arvind Kumar Badgal-JKPS was constituted to nab the accused. Utilizing all available means with strenuous efforts, specific information was generated by the investigating team which led to the arrest of accused Namely Mohd Aamir Bhat S/O Mohd Ishaq Bhat R/O Gudder Kulgam within six hours after complaint was received.
Regarding the incident, Case FIR No. 120/2020 U/S 376, 506 IPC, 4 POCSO Act, 67A IT Act stands registered in Police Station Devsar and further investigation is on.
Community members hailed the efforts of Kulgam police for timely action.
Earlier a group of youth had raped and brutally assaulted a girl in DH Pora area of the district.
Even though the police arrested the accused, however the girl lost her battle of life at a Srinagar hospital earlier this week.
