| 5-Day training programme on Disaster Management concludes | | | JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 08 – A Five-day Disaster Management Programme has been organized by Institute of Management Public Administration and Rural Development (IMPA) commenced from September 4, 2006 concluded here today. The programme was sponsored by the department of Personnel and Training, Government of India. The senior and middle level officers from different departments like Police, PWD, Irrigation and Flood Control, PHE, Animal Husbandry etc actively participated in this training course. The Inspector General of Police, Jammu Dr. S. P. Vaid during his valedictory address stressed upon the need of early preparedness in order to tackle effectively with different types of disasters that may hit the state of Jammu and Kashmir in future. He also distributed certificates to participants on their successful completion of training course. The prime objectives of this training course were to spread awareness among these officers about the basic concepts and technologies related to Disaster Management, Mitigation and Preparedness with special emphasis on J&K State. Various experts have delivered lectures on different aspects of Disaster Management. The lectures were supplemented with film shows as well as exercises on different aspects of the concerned theme. Participants were assigned a project work pertaining to making Disaster Preparedness Strategy, Relief, Rescue as well as Rehabilitation Plan for the city of Jammu. An exhibition of Posters on Disaster related issues was organized on the concluding day of the programame. |
