The Panthers Party has decided to contest both the Lok Sabha seats in Jammu region in order to ensure that the case of discrimination to the people of the region was raised on the floor of the Parliament. Announcing this General Secretary of the Panthers Party, Harsh Dev Singh, today said that though "we have had Lok Sabha members from the Jammu region but regrettably they remained speechless during the debates in the Lok Sabha and did not raise issues concerning with the lives and honour of the people of the region". "We have decided to fight the Lok Sabha poll from both the constitutes so that we could raise issues relevant to the people of the region on the floor of the House, " he added Harsh Dev said "we have to carry on our struggle as there are a number of issues that needed to be resolved". He said the most important issue was to force the Government to set up Delimitation Commission which alone could reverse the trend of discriminating people of the region".We are not demanding any extra concession. We want the commission to increase the number of Assembly segments on the basis of the population and area which were more than the Valley," he said The Panthers Party leader said "we have to fight for equal devolution of funds and better share in Government services". For achieving these objectives "we have to send effective Panthers members to the Lok Sabha", he added. |
