| Manhas for setting up 6 more polling stations in Nagrota constituency | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Sep 4
Advocate Balbir Singh, who is likely to contest the forthcoming election to the State Assembly from Nagrota constituency, has urged upon the Chief Electoral Officer for creation of six more polling booths in the constituency. In a communication to the CEO, Manhas has suggested creation of additional polling booths at village Prade and Dabbar Maira in Bhalwal block, village Pali and Garni in Dansal Block and village Dhoon and Ragoora falling under the erstwhile block of Purmandal. Manhas in his communication has further said that during his extensive tour of the constituency, the electorate vehemently demanded setting up of these polling booths as they had to otherwise travel a long distance to exercise their franchise. Manhas said that since the distance to the existing polling booths is more than three kilometers, the voters are demanding creation of additional polling booths nearer to their villages to enable them, especially the old and woman, to cast their votes without any inconvenience. He said the government had already set up polling stations in these villages during the Panchayat elections and more so all the proposed villages have government buildings like schools for setting up the polling stations. |
