| Sharma calls for gearing up field functionaries | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Sep 4
Director Horticulture, Jia Lal Sharma took stock of the progress of implementation of various developmental schemes especially Technology Mission Program for integrated development of horticulture at a meeting here today. He stressed upon the officers to gear up their field functionaries so that the benefits available under various departmental schemes must reach to a common/poor farmer. He impressed upon Chief Horticulture Officers to organize farmers’ awareness camps/seminars in every nook and corner of their respective districts to educate the farmers regarding various schemes/programmes of the department and to transfer latest technology to the farmers so that maximum number of farmers are benefited under the departmental schemes. He also discussed the damage caused to horticulture crops and departmental assets due to disturbance in Jammu division. All chief Horticulture Officers were directed to prepare the beneficiary wise loss and maintain Departmental Nurseries on purely scientific lines. He directed the district heads to give impetus to success stories of development programmes and highlight through print and electronic media so that these stories act as guiding force for other farmers/fruit growers. Later, Director Horticulture presented cheques amounting to over Rs.four lakhs to the orchardists of Jammu district as financial assistance under various components of Horticulture Technology. |
