| Delay in Indo-Pak dialogue would prove detrimental for peace in entire South Asia: Farooq | | | SRINAGAR, SEPT, National conference patron and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, today said that his party will emerge victorious in the next elections as he snubbed possibility of any union with other mainstream political parties. He also urged Pakistan and Indian leadership to hold concrete dialogue to bring peace in south Asia (SA) and warned them that any delay in the pace of peace process would harm both countries. Speaking at a public function organized to commemorate the 24th death anniversary of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, he said, “We will wait till the next election in which our party will emerge as victorious”. Taking dig at the mufti Mohammad sayeed, Abdullah said, “Mufti’s anti-Kashmir policy has been exposed by Beigh”. While urging central government to provide a special flood package for the flood affected masses, he said, “The physical infrastructure in many parts of the state has been badly damaged and hundreds of villages and its inhabitants severely affected and I urge Centre to provide a special flood package for the rehabilitation of these affected population”. He claimed that the coalition government had failed on all fronts in providing relief to the affected people. Taking at the recent attacks and consequence it had on the Jammu and Kashmir’s main economy, tourism industry, Abdullah said that “it is beyond our understandings”. NC patron also urged Pakistan and Indian leaderships to strengthen the dialogue process as any delay according to him would result detrimental for peace in entire south Asia. “Indian and Pakistan must keep on talking and any delay would be harmful for both countries”, he said. “I hope that both countries will take advantage of the NAM (Non-Aligned Movement) summit to be held at Havana later this month and ensure efforts of friendship be taken for lasting peace in the south Asia which would not be possible with out the settlement of Kashmir”. Earlier he and his Cabinet colleagues, legislators and thousands of party workers and women and children paid floral tributes to late Sher-i-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah on his 24th death anniversary at his Mazaar near Naseembagh. Fateh Khawni was also observed and verses from Holy Quran were recited on the occasion from early morning.
