| Govt cracks its whip, five more suspended | | Employees-Agitators | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Sep 4
As the dust begins to settle down after two months of turmoil, the government is getting tough with its employees who were at the forefront if the agitation on Amarnath land row. After nine employees were punished in Kishtwar, the district administration of Poonch has suspended five employees on the charges of inciting communal passions. The Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti has taken serious view of the suspension of two of the five employees and warned the state government against any further move against employees. "The Deputy Commissioner of Poonch has suspended five government officials yesterday for inciting people by making provocative statements and triggering communal clashes in the district on August 23," district officials said today. The officials suspended have been identified as Mohammad Taj, a PHE employee, Qasim Ali of Rural Development Department, Master Khetar Pal, Rajesh Kumar and Forest department official Nafes Haider, they said. In Rajouri, the Chief Education Officer K.K.Gupta has directed Zonal Education Officers to take stern action against teachers habitual of remaining absent from their respective schools. He called for seeking explanation from those subject teachers, whose result is less than 50 percent, directing stoppage of their periodical increment. Meanwhile, taking serious note of the harassment of government employees who participated in the mass movement for the restoration of land to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board, Shri Amarnath Sangharsh Samiti today warned the State Government against taking any action against those employees who participated in peaceful demonstrations. Sangarsh Samiti charged that the State Government has been equating employees with those miscreants who were involved in communal riots against Hindus in Poonch and Kishtwar districts. It has been observed that a prominent social worker of Poonch namely Khetar Pal has been placed under suspension on false charge. It is widely known in Poonch district that Khetar Pal was helping victims of communal riots by the majority community. Instead of taking action against real culprits who instigated the people to attack Hindus in Poonch, district administration under the pressure of separatists is victimising the active social works of minority Hindu community to force migration from Poonch. As the rioters and their mentors failed to demoralise the minority Hindu community, administration has taken up the task of ethnic cleansing of Hindus from twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri. Hindus, who bravely faced the wrath of fundamentalist elements and foiled their nefarious designs to force their migration, have been victimised by the local administration. It has also been observed that the Government is threatening the low paid employees to consider the period of agitation as leave or break. Sangarsh Samiti has taken serious note of these threats and termed it as serious violation of the agreement. Samiti suggested the State Government to honestly adhere to the clauses of the agreement for restoring peace in Jammu region and not to force it to resume the suspended movement. |
