| Nationalistic will alone can meet the challenge of fundamentalists: Gupta | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Sep 5
Asserting that united nationalistic will is the only answer to meet the challenge of fundamentalism, bigotry and Talbani outlook threatening the unity of the country, the former union minister and senior BJP leader Prof Chaman Lal Gupta has said that the big fight put by the Swami Amarnath Sangarsh Samiti is the demonstration of this will adding that this struggle would go into the annals of the history. Addressing a big gathering of the activists at Ransu in Reasi area today he observed that separatism and Jehadi approach was the result of separate status given to Jammu and Kashmir by the Congress leadership despite warnings by the nationalist leaders like Moulana Mohani, Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukerji and others. Late Jawahar Lal Nehru had ignored these apprehensions by arguing that Article 370 was a temporary measure and it would wither away with the passage of time but the results are now being faced by the people of this state as also the entire country, he added. Alleging that Congress was responsible for whole of the malady and so many problems in Jammu and Kashmir, he said ‘it is like a pampered child who becomes a problem for the whole family’. The BJP leader accused the Congress also for discrimination against Jammu and explained that National Conference being an incarnation of the Muslim Conference, under communal and regional considerations subjugated Jammu and extended step-motherly treatment all along but it was strange that now both the local leaders of the Congress and those of the National Conference are confessing that there has been discrimination against Jammu for the past over 60 years. Such confessions do not minimize their guilt as they had always being playing as stooges of those ruling leaders of Kashmir who inflicted injustices against Jammu, he maintained and asked the people to punish these in elections. About the persisting of cross border terror, Prof. Gupta again charged the Congress for their unrealistic approach and stressed for stern measures to deal with anti-national elements operating from within and outside. Prof. Gupta said that time is not far off when the nationalist masses can teach a lesson to the Congress, the NC and the PDP. The meeting was also addressed by Baldev Sharma and Shashi Gupta. |
