| Students’ excursion tour flagged off | | | Early Times Reporter Ladakh | Sep 5
To win hearts and minds of the militancy infested populace of Jammu and Kashmir the `SABSE SAHASI GUNNERS’ of ‘FOREVER IN OPERATIONS’ Division conducted a trip for the children of Suru-Zanskar Valley, studying in Army Goodwill Schools, to various places in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh to broaden the horizon of the children of these remote areas. The group comprising 30 students, accompanied by elders and school teachers, will visit various places in Himachal Pradesh, the most important of them, being the sear of ‘His Holiness-The Dalai Lama’ at Mcleodgang, besides site seeing at Chandigarh and visit to HMT Tractor Factory at Pinjore. The children will also get an opportunity to meet the Governor of Punjab, while in Chandigarh. The excursion, as part of Operation Sadbhavana, is being conducted with a view to bring about oneness, build bridges of friendship and help Ladakhi children to join the mainstream. The students, who hail from the remote areas of Suru- Zanskar Valley, will be exposed to the grandeur and rich cultural heritage of the country. The objective of the venture is to facilitate learning and expose the children to rich and varied culture of our great nation thus also helping to reinforce the bonds of friendship between Army and local populace. Major General Dalbir Singh, General Officer Commanding ‘FOREVER IN OPERATIONS’ Division flagged off the tour from Khumbathang today. |
