The Government today accorded sanction for prosecution of Mohd Shafi Bhat then Principal Govt Higher Secondary School Charar-e-Sharief and Mohd Lateef Baba alias Haji then Junior Assistant of the said school for the commission of offence punishable u/s 5 (2) J&K PC Act 2006 r/w Section 409, 120-B RPC. One Mohd Lateef Baba alias Haji, the then Junior Assistant posted Government higher secondary school Charar-e-Sharief lodged a written complaint with the police station alleging therein that Mohd Shafi Bhat as DDO had drawn Rs 89, 000 fraudulently as pay for two months in favour of two lecturers who were not existing on the strength of the institution. On this report a case FIR NO 18/2003 was registered in P/S Charar-e-Sharief investigation taken up. During the course of investigation it was established that accused persons namely Mohd Shafi Bhat and Mohd Lateef Baba alias Haji (complainant) then Principal and Junior Assistant respectively acted in league with each other and by abusing their official position, fraudulently and dishonestly had drawn an amount of Rs 54608 on account of salary shown disbursed to fictitious names Mohd Yousaf and Ghulam Rasool as lecturers, who on investigation, were found not existing on the strength of the institution. The said accused persons hatched a criminal conspiracy thereby causing loss to the state exchequer by drawing Rs 54608 as a pay of non-existing lecturers for the month and August and September 2002. In the meanwhile State also accorded sanction for prosecution of one Mohd Maqbool Mir then Junior Assistant in the office of Naib Tehsildar Wagoora who was caught red-handed by the Vigilance team on January 23, 2008.
