Accusing state government and the divisional administration Jammu in failing to provide relief and rehabilitation to the Gujjar families whose khullas and other property was damaged during the two month long agitation in winter capital, the president Jammu and Kashmir Gujjar United Front Mohammed Anwar Choudhary today threatened to march towards New Delhi to meet Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and home Minister Shiv Raj Patel and apprise them about the pathetic conditions of Gujjars who were forced to migrate during the two month long agitation on Shrine Board land row. In a press statement issued here today Choudhary castigated the Divisional Administration of its total failure in providing logistic support and financial assistance to the uprooted nomadic families of Jammu, Kathua and Samba district and said that they were living in a pathetic condition. He said about one hundred families of Gujjars in Jammu and adjoining districts, whose hamlet were damaged, are shelter less and presently putting up in many areas of Jammu. He has sought the intervention of the state Governor for providing temporary shelters to the migrant Gujjars besides adequate compensation for the losses suffered by them. The Gujjar leader alleged that despite lapse of over a fortnight no FIR has been registered by the police so far. Lambasting the communal approach of Director General Police and Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Gujjar leader said that no compensation or relief has been given to any family or group of nomads. He said we have lost about one hundred houses and properties worth lakhs but government is maintaining a criminal silence over it. Hundreds of families of our tribe have been uprooted from Jammu, Samba and Kathua district, but nobody wants to listen us He said and alleged that the even NGOS , Red cross and other semi government and charitable organizations has miserably failed to provide aid and relief to our people. |
