| BCFI delegation calls on National Commission for Backward Classes | | | Early Times Reporter

A high powered delegation of he Backward Classes Federation of India, comprising Chairman Nek Ram Dofara, Senior Vice-President. Manohar Lal Convener, Advocate Ashok Kumar Basotra and State Youth President Bharat Bhushan, called on the National Commission for Backward Classes at the union capita. The delegation presented a memorandum listing charter of demands.
Ram Awadhesh Singh, who accepted the memorandum on behalf of National Commission for Backward Classes, discussed all the demands in detail with the high powered delegation and assured that the demands listed in the memorandum will be taken up with the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi within next 2-3 days. The Commission would also urge the state Governor to concede all the demands at the earliest.
Ram Awadhesh Singh, the member of the Commission also assured the delegation that he would visit J&K State once again along with other members of the Commission in the month of October, 2008 to sort out the genuine grievances of the Backward Classes in the State of Jammu & Kashmir.
The delegation among others things are demanding enhancement in reservation quota from 2% to 27%, amendments in Jammu & Kashmir Reservation Act, 2004 and the Jammu & Kashmir Reservation Rules, 2005, constituting advisory board for OBCs and removing the creamy layer embargo from OBCs reservation. |
