The situation in Srinagar remained peaceful barring some stone pelting incidents in some localities in the city. A police spokesman said that 10 Police and CRPF personnel were injured in stone throwing incidents at Guzarbal Chatabal, Zampa Kadal, Fateh Kadal and Nowhata areas. He said about one dozen private vehicles were also damaged by the mob in stone pelting incidents. The situation elsewhere, he remained peaceful. The spokesman said that in the morning people resorted to stone throwing in the interior Maisuma area. They were dispersed and situation brought under control. He said the shops in Nowhata area remained closed and traffic in the area was also off the road. At Shiraz Cinema Chowk a group of people indulged in stone throwing on the police/CRPF however, they were dispersed. The spokesman said that at Safakadal shops were also closed and a small group of people resorted to stone pelting but were dispersed and situation brought under control. He added that another small group of people at Nowabazar pelted stones at 166 Bn CRPF bankers this afternoon but they were dispersed. In the meantime the district administration Anantnag has refuted the news report carried by a section of press regarding imposition of curfew in Anantnag town. He said that there was no curfew in any part of the district; however, restrictions under section 144 continue to be in position in the district. |
